Honeywell HOA Switch Quality Issue
ISSUE: HOA switch does not control properly
APPLIES TO: CIPer Model 30 controllers and I/O Expansion Modules
FREQUENCY:
Reports of this issue have occurred in less than two-tenths of a percent (<0.2%) of shipped product. In the instances reported, the controllers operated normally for several months before the issue started occurring. In some cases, moving the switch back and forth temporarily resolved the issue, however, the issue occurred.
DESCRIPTION:
CIPer Model 30 controller and I/O module HOA switches have been observed not controlling properly. When this issue occurs, the controller does not recognize the current state of the switch and the HOA switch does not override the output properly. See examples below:
CAUSE:
This issue is caused by HOA switch hardware. Mitigation: Honeywell will release a new firmware version with a configuration setting to allow disabling of the HOA switches when HOA switch functionality is not required. This firmware is scheduled to be available in 2Q2022. When HOA switch functionality is required, Honeywell is also investigating a hardware replacement solution for devices that experience this issue.
